Hey there, dog lovers! There's something about the summer months that turns every dog owner into a full-time weather-watcher. Suddenly we're checking the pavement temperature before walks, timing our outings for early morning or late evening, and side-eyeing the sun like it personally has something against us. Dogs, being far less capable of processing "just wait it out" logic, tend to make their feelings about the heat known pretty loudly - through dramatic flops onto the coolest tile in the house, an unusual amount of panting, or straight-up refusing to move from in front of the fan.

And honestly? We get it. Dogs primarily cool themselves through panting, since they don't sweat the way humans do (aside from a little through their paw pads), which makes hot weather a genuinely bigger deal for them than it is for us. That's why summer turns into a whole seasonal project for dog parents - cooling mats suddenly become essential furniture, water bowls get refilled twice as often, and the phrase "not today, buddy" becomes the go-to response to any midday walk requests.

But even with all the heat-related chaos, summer with a dog has its own kind of magic. There's something deeply entertaining about watching a full-grown dog collapse dramatically in a puddle of shade as they've just run a marathon, or the sheer joy on their face the second a sprinkler turns on. Dogs somehow make even melting in the heat look like a whole personality.
